Dermal fillers and facial contouring
Dermal fillers are gel-like products applied beneath the skin to give an area volume or definition. The most commonly used is hyaluronic acid (HA), which also occurs naturally in the skin. Which area, which product and how much will be used is decided together with your doctor at the examination.
Treatments
Lip filler
The lips are not assessed on their own but together with the corners of the mouth, the lines above the upper lip and the surrounding tissues.
Chin and jawline
Applied to the tip of the chin and along the jawline for volume and definition. Assessed together with the nose, lips and cheekbones.
Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) filler
A type of filler different from hyaluronic acid. This treatment is performed by Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Çoban and Dr. Yulet Miray Molu.
Filler dissolving
Dissolving a previously placed hyaluronic acid filler with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks it down.
Double-chin lipolysis
An injection treatment targeting the fat tissue under the chin.
Other areas
Cheekbones, temples and the nasolabial folds (the lines running from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth). Suitability is decided at the examination.
How is the treatment done?
At the examination your medical history is taken, your expectations are discussed and pre-treatment photographs are taken. The amount to be used is determined at the examination according to need.
Numbing starts at your appointment time: a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area and left for about 30 minutes. Most fillers also contain a local anaesthetic. The treatment takes 10–20 minutes depending on the area.
After the treatment
- You can wash your face after half an hour; you may eat and drink as usual.
- There may be redness, swelling or bruising in the area; this usually resolves within a few days.
- After treatment at the angle of the jaw, there may be slight pain when chewing for 1–2 days.
- The follow-up appointment takes place within 1 month of the treatment.
- If unexpected pain, discolouration or swelling occurs, call the clinic immediately.
Before you come for the treatment
- If you take blood-thinning medication, tell us at the examination. Do not stop your medication without consulting your doctor.
- Stop products that can thin the blood, such as green tea, 1 week beforehand.
- Do not drink alcohol the day before the treatment; do not wear make-up on the area on the day of the treatment.
- The treatment is not performed if there is severe active acne on the skin.
- For chin filler and double-chin lipolysis, we kindly ask our male patients to come clean-shaven.
The treatment is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a filler last?
It varies depending on the product used, the area and the person. Your doctor will explain the average duration of the recommended product at the examination.
How much filler is needed?
The amount, in millilitres, is determined at the examination according to your face and your expectations.
I have had filler done elsewhere — can I still have treatment?
At the examination you will be asked about the type and timing of the previous treatment. If necessary, it is dissolved first and then the treatment is planned again.
