Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is the application of mixtures containing substances such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids and hyaluronic acid, in small doses with fine needles, into the dermis (the middle layer of the skin). The mixture, the number of sessions and the interval between sessions differ depending on the area and the aim.
Treatment areas
Face
3 sessions, 2–3 weeks apart, are recommended.
Under-eye area
5 sessions, 2–3 weeks apart, are recommended.
Neck
The number of sessions is determined at the examination.
Hair
Applied to the scalp, 2 weeks apart. The number of sessions is determined at the examination.
Scars
Depending on the type of scar, mesotherapy or an enzymatic treatment is planned.
Stretch marks
The amount to be used is determined by the doctor according to the area of the stretch marks.
How is the treatment done?
At the examination your medical history is taken; you will be asked about pregnancy and breastfeeding. The treatment area is cleaned and, if needed, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied (about 30 minutes).
The mixture is applied in small doses with fine needles or a mesotherapy gun. A session usually takes 20–30 minutes; you may feel a slight stinging.
After the treatment
- There may be slight redness, swelling or small bruises; these usually resolve quickly.
- For the first 24 hours, do not wear make-up and try to keep the area away from water.
- In the first days, avoid direct sun and use a high-SPF sunscreen.
- Keeping to the interval between sessions is part of the plan; your next appointment is given at the end of the session.
Before you come for the treatment
- If you take blood-thinning medication, tell us at the examination. Do not stop your medication without consulting your doctor.
- Do not drink alcohol the day before the treatment; do not wear make-up on the area on the day of the treatment.
- If you have taken isotretinoin (an oral acne medicine), the treatment can be done 3 months after the end of the course.
- The treatment is not performed if there is severe active acne on the skin.
- For face and neck mesotherapy, we kindly ask our male patients to come clean-shaven.
The treatment is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
